El Baton Robusto

The cigar today is the El Baton robusto from J.C. Newman. It’s their first Nicaraguan puro, and is made by Fabrica de Tabacos San Rafael S.A. It’s larger than a standard robusto at 54 ring gauge. Does it live up to it’s advertising slogan “Mucho flavor. Little dinero.”?

Poll: IPCPR Announcements

This week is the 77th annual International Premium Cigar & Pipe Retailers Association trade show, being held this year in New Orleans. We never thought we’d add 2 more contributors by now, and video reviews were just a pie in the sky thought back in January. So to handle all of this content, we want to redesign the site. Don’t worry, the logo isn’t going anywhere.

Don Pepin Garcia Series JJ Maduro

I’m sure most, if not all of you, are familiar with Jerry from Stogie Review. He lost his son JJ, his “little robusto,” a couple of years ago to SIDS, and in his memory Jerry promotes “Smoke a JJ for JJ Day,” in its second year. So today I’m reviewing the Series JJ Maduro Sublime by Don Pepin Garcia, a beautiful Nicaraguan puro that also comes in a natural version.
