State of the Ash Address 2010
My fellow ash-holes,
Today marks the first anniversary of Nice Tight Ash! It has hard to believe that it was only one year ago that Chris and I launched this site, hoping to contribute to the cigar community that has given us so very much. We hope we have been able to contribute something back to that community as well.
Our first year saw Nice Tight Ash grow, in both content and in contributors. In just one year, we have posted nearly 140 cigar reviews. We tried out lighters, ashtrays, and travel humidors. We wrote about how to send a cigar bomb, keep a cigar journal, track your cigar collection, the necessity of supporting Cigar Rights of America, and began our Beginner’s Guide Series. We had a lot of fun with our contests. We began our Holiday Smokes for Our Heroes program, during which you contributed 535 cigars to our nation’s troops serving our country overseas. Ben kept us up to date with the happenings at IPCPR. We started adding in video reviews. And we got to spend some time with our dads, uncles and grandfathers, and Santa Claus in the process.
I would be incredibly remiss in not mentioning the two new members of Nice Tight Ash who helped bring so much to NTA Nation, Ben and Brian. These two gentlemen really helped Chris and I kick the site into high gear, and let us provide you with content at least six days a week. All of us here put a lot of work into the site (a lot of which you don’t see). We all work to keep the site going, navigating around work schedules, weddings, vacations, sick kids, moving, and all of life’s other happenings. We’ve got a great group of guys here, and I enjoy and appreciate every day we work together.
I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors who help us bring the site and the contests to you: Buy Lighters, CAO, Cheap Humidors, Cigars Direct, Corona Cigar Company, General Cigar Company, Lotus, Reyes Family Cigars, Roberto Hand Rolled Cigars, and Xikar. So that is the past and present of Nice Tight Ash. What about the future? First, we’re developing a bigger and better site for you. When completed, the site redesign will let you find reviews and information faster and easier. You’ll better be able to follow comments and discussions. So, content will be easier for you to get. What about the content itself? We’re going to keep providing you with the high-quality, unbiased reviews you expect from us. But of course it won’t stop there. We’re going to expand our coverage of industry news, cigar events, and interviews with people inside the cigar industry. We’ll keep bringing you gear reviews, contests, and more of the Beginner’s Guide. We hope to expand our Holiday Smokes for Our Heroes program in a big way this year. And we’ve got a few things up our sleeves we won’t reveal just yet.
One final thank you to all of our readers and viewers: without your support and readership, we could not do what we do. We hope you enjoy the site. Here’s to another great year at Nice Tight Ash. Because, don’t forget…

Now of course I want to see 3-d representations of all the cigar reviews that can be ported to a virtual environment so I may enjoy the cigar with you =)
