Viaje Holiday Blend 2009

Viaje is one of the newer companies in the cigar market, and this year they have began a new limited edition Holiday Blend series. The inaugural 2009 version is limited to a production of 100 boxes of 30 cigars. This full bodied Nicaraguan puro features a luscious Criollo wrapper and all Nicaraguan tobacco with a covered foot, which the company says is to keep the cigars warm in the winter. I tested that by smoking this the day after Maryland got its biggest December snow storm in history.

I popped the cap on a magnum of Anchor Brewing Company Christmas Ale. In its 35th year, the Special Ale is new every year, and is available from November until mid-January. Unfortunately, the camera locked up on me in the last segment, and I had to record an ending later on, sans cigar.

Also in the video I have a new product announcement from Viaje. Andre Farkas, the owner of the company, had a cigar made just for him. After handing it out at a few events, and receiving positive feedback, it was released in small quantities to 2 Viaje retailers. The response to that was so big Viaje is putting the new cigar out as the Viaje Exclusivo, at the end of January/early-February time frame. One hundred jars of 35 cigars will be produced, and will be available at preferred Viaje retailers. . It measures in at 4-7/8″ x 50, and has a pigtail triple cap. Viaje sent a couple of the new sticks my way, and I’ll have a review of them up shortly before they hit shelves early next year.

Sounds like a very nice cigar, I would just worry about the fullness of it for my own tastes. I will have to keep my eyes open, but this black hole of cigar shops i live in may not ever see these limited releases ;)

SO any idea what these new cigars in the jars are going to look like and what are they going to taste like? Will it be the holiday blend or what?

Grow a set of cojones and smoke inside instead of freezing your ballz off! You cannot enjoy a great cigar when you are miserably cold.
