El Original Maduro

Back in July I brought you a review of the El Original Natural Lancero, which is a killer stick if you ask me. So today I’m breaking out the El Original Maduro in the toro size. The El Original blend was created by Santiago Cabana for the Island Smoke Shop in Key Largo, Florida. Although I’m not certain of when this blend was created, I do know that the cigar was rated the #1 maduro cigar in with world by Smoke Magazine in the winter of 2000.

The Mexican maduro wrapper is a dark shade of brown and is riddled with both small and large veins. Just as rugged as the appearance of the cigar was the texture, which I can best describe as toothy. The cigar has a light aroma of hay and barnyard and the pre-light draw was effortless. So now it’s time to set fire to the end of this cigar and see how it smokes

All said and done I would recommend the El Original Maduro to just about anyone. The cigar has a surprising smoothness that makes the medium to full-bodied cigar more palatable for a broader range of smokers. I tend to prefer the natural wrapped lancero, because of the intense pepper flavors, however, there is nothing I can take away from the maduro version.

Great review. I dunno about this one, just kind of seems everyday normal run of the mill. If I get a chance, I would try it, but it isnt one that I think I would go out of my way to acquire.
