La Palina announces the third Goldie from the La Palina Collection: The Goldie Laguito Especial
Goldie Drell Paley, the namesake of our brand, was the wife of Sam Paley, who founded La Palina in 1896. To celebrate the history, contributions and accomplishments of women in the cigar industry, La Palina released the La Palina Collection Goldie series in 2012.
The 2014 Goldie Laguito Especial will be a 7×40 cigar, presented in 2500 numbered boxes of 10. Bill Paley is proud to present the release of the Goldie Laguito Especial in late May, and October of 2014.
Produced at the El Titan de Bronze factory in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami, the Goldie is made under the supervision of owner Sandra Cobas. Master roller Maria Sierra rolls each La Palina Collection Goldie cigar. Maria is one of the ï¬rst women trained to roll cigars in Cuba. Her historic 32-year career at Villa El Laguito began July 22, 1967. Maria is a 95 rated, category 9 roller trained by Fidel Castro’s personal roller Eduardo Rivera Irizarri, as well as Avelino Lara, the creator of the legendary Cohiba blend.
Each cigar is ï¬nished in the traditional Laguito style with a fan cap, exclusively taught to rollers at Villa El Laguito. The Goldie is blended with the prized Medio Tiempo leaf, found on only 10% of tobacco plants.
The La Palina Collection Goldie embodies the tradition, expertise, and passion of women in the cigar industry
