Meet the Ash-holes: Ben
I started smoking cigars around 2002 a couple of years after graduating from Mississippi State University. I joined Cigar Weekly in 2004 and met a lot of really great people and started learning a lot about cigars from some of the senior members on the board. A lot of them sent me some grab bags of different stuff to try which is where I developed my taste of what I liked and didn’t like. I couldn’t get enough information. I absorbed it like a sponge. I really enjoy medium to full bodied cigars mainly from Honduras and Nicaragua. I LOVE tobacco from Costa Rica. This year, I joined two other Cigar Weekly BOTLs, Chris and Charlie, and started doing reviews for Nice Tight Ash. I’ve done several reviews at Cigar Weekly before, but this gave me a great opportunity to get more in depth and do more reviews, something I really love to do.
Outside of NTA, I’m a 34 year old computer engineer for a large defense contractor, husband, father of three and avid fan of the Atlanta Braves, New Orleans Saints, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Notre Dame Fighting Irish (like a good Irish Catholic boy should) and Manchester United. I really enjoy beer and coffee and sample as much as I can as well as a wine geek. HUGE history nut and I owe my engineering degree to Star Trek: The Next Generation. I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast aka Katrina Land. Avid outdoorsman which I love to hunt and fish. Also, I enjoy shooting sports and archery.
