“Smoked Up” No.54

2014 is here and moving pretty fast already. It seems like last week I was shooting off fireworks and ringing in the new year and here it is the third week in January! This week has been a real slow cigar week for me with not too many cigars in my weekly recap. I was limited on smoking time, so I did enjoy a few bowls of baccy in the pipe. The house work has been keeping me pretty busy with projects around the house and playing with my daughter. I’m really starting to dislike the color pink and Barbies!

Cigar Views

SAMSUNGAlec Bradley 1997 Harvest Selection Robusto: This is a cigar I have not had in quite a while and figured it was time to revisit it. This cigar was pretty smooth and offered a nicer woody note that was accompanied by a lesser almost vanilla note. This smoke stayed pretty smooth and creamy the whole length of the cigar. Its not something to write home and rave about, but a nice medium body & flavor strength cigar. Had pretty good construction with nice burn and draw. I couldn’t remember if I liked the 1997 or the Overture more, but will try and find an Overture and try it and see. Regardless, it was a decent smoke for the money.

SAMSUNGBrickHouse Maduro Robusto: I think this was only available in a 6×60 size and that is not my cup of tea. Then they came out with other sizes and I finally came across a robusto to try. I do like the natural BrickHouse for a economical cigar and the maduro was no exception. Had a medium strengthed smooth smoke with a bit of a chocolate flavor and a stronger black pepper on the retrohale. I did get a lighter sense of a graham cracker flavor when I got into the cigar some. Not a complex smoke, but for about $6, it was pretty good. The ashes were grey and tight, but didn’t hang on long. These would make for a good yard gar for spring days when working in my garden.

SAMSUNG601 La Bomba Warhead: I really like the La Bomba line, they have a good amount of body and flavor that fills my need for a fuller bodied cigar. There are others that are stronger, yet the flavors are just not there for me; the Warhead is not like that. The draw had a nice thickness to it with a few construction issues, but mainly due to me not paying enough attention to the cigar. The flavors along with the body were stronger in the Warhead than the other La Bomba I have had. I really liked the size as it was a great smoke for the nice cool and comfortable evening I had it in.
