“Smoked Up” No.64
“Never judge a book (or cigar) by its cover.” I found that out this week as I had a few cigars sort of threw me off. I had a few predetermined notions of how the smoke was going to be and it turned out quite the opposite and it worked out for the better in these cases. One of my “Cigar New Years Resolutions” was to smoke as many different cigars as I could this year and go outside of my usual cigars. Basically, “going outside the box” as they say. A few times its done ok, a few times its been great and a few times I have wished I didn’t go outside the box! None the less, its my way of broadening my horizons and trying new things.
I got a review out this week of the new Puro Vida Maduro Toro out. Its a local based cigar company that I mentioned here a few months back about. I won’t go into too much detail with the review, you are going to have to check it out for your self.
Cigar ViewsÂ
Ezra Zion Eminence Belicoso Gran Toro: Ezra Zion has some interesting blends and sizes on the market. The Eminence Belicoso Gran Toro is one of those. The size and shape is odd in itself as your don’t see too many short and stubby belicoso cigars on the shelves these days. This cigar had a good amount of spice along with some leather and hints of cocoa. Its not one of my favorites from Ezra Zion, but its not a bad smoke either.  Â
Private Stock by Davidoff: This cigars has a date of “4-16-10” on it so its got some nice age on it. Seeing how old it was, I figured it would be a lot milder than it turned out to be. Almost figured it to be flavorless, but it was not. There were very nice herbal notes with some light wood and a faint vanilla here and there. I think this cigar is a Tinderbox exclusive, but I am not 100% sure. All and all, I was quite pleased with the smoke. Had great construction and nice upper mild strengthed flavors with a mild strength.
Drew Estate MUWAT Digital Son 6: The MUWAT is one of those cigars that I will enjoy even with its 60rg. When the Baitfish came out I was estatic about the smaller ring gauge and length, but the DS6 gave me a little more of both. This cigar is perfect with a cup of coffee as the flavors and time match it well. I was gifted this cigar by a fellow cigar reviewer and am greatly appreciative of it! I was saving it to do a full review on it, but when I grabbed it out of the humidor, I thought it was the smaller Baitfish. If you like the Baitfish like I do, then the DS6 is a cigar to seek out, I am not sure if you can still get your hands on them anymore though….
Partagas 1845 Extra Oscuro Robusto: This is the one of two newest cigars from Partagas following their popular 1845 line. This cigar I was almost skeptical about with the name “Extra Oscuro”. I figured it to be a good bit more harsher than it turned out to be. It was fairly smooth; although there were a few rough spots and had pretty good flavors. I won’t go into too much detail as I plan to do a full review on this in a week or so (but I did like it).
