Today I’m firing up the Avalon Juke Series Red Lancero. I’ve been wanting to try an Avalon cigar for a while, but never found them in any of the shops that I’ve visited. That is until a few weeks ago when I found them in a relatively new shop outside of Annapolis, MD.
The lancero appeared to be constructed well and had an intense barnyard aroma. The wrapper had a few small veins and was a light to medium shade of brown. A pre-light draw yielded a light hay flavor an nice spice note on the tip of my tongue and lips.
Name: Juke Series Red
Made in: Esteli, Nicaragua
Wrapper: Pennsylvania Broadleaf Maduro
Filler: Habano Rosado
Price: $5.30 per stick
Comes in: Boxes of 20
Vitola: Lancero (7″ X 38)
I’m really crying the blues after dropping that stick on the ground and cracking the wrapper the way I did. But despite that issue, The cigar really performed well. The Juke Red wasn’t a phenomenal cigar, but the flavors were enjoyable and mildly complex. I’d say this cigar is medium body but is relatively full of flavor. I’m definitely looking forward to trying more Avalon cigars.
