Gran Vida Habano by Rocky Patel

A week or two ago I reviewed the Gran Vida Maduro which was given to my to try by the owner of Emerson’s Cigars. Well today I’m going to be smoking the Habano wrapped version of that cigar.

The Gran Vida Habano has a medium to dark brown wrapper and feels pretty heavy in the hand. This cigar feel firmly constructed and even sports a triple cap. During the pre-light draw I could pick up some spice and a hint of cedar. Check out the video to find out how it smoked.

Name: Gran Vida Habano
Company: Rocky Patel
Made in:
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Habano
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Price: $112.50 per box
Comes in: Boxes of 20
Vitola: Robusto (5″ X 50)

The Gran Vida Habano turned out to be an enjoyable cigar. Construction on these cigars in outstanding, and the flavors are deep and heavy. I don’t think this stick is for everyone, but if you’re in the mood for a bold cigar with tons of spice, then the Gran Vida Habano might be right up your alley.

Thanks! Always a great review — wish I could find one of the Gran Vidas around here (although prolly too much for ME!).

Oh, forgot to mention [please combine with earlier comment]: the way the light moves and the day clearly heats up (wind dies down, sun come up, jacket comes off) was a great visual indicator of the length of the smoke!

4″ (more) rain in my area…

Sounds like a good stick,I’ll have to give it a try.As always, great review.

Every day for a month, at least…I’m convinced that with the proper access and time to collect all of them, you could smoke a different Rocky Patel every day for at least a month and never have the exact same blend twice. That would be a good project for a blog to undertake: reviewing a different RP cigar every day for a month.

Thanks for the excellent review, Chris. Once again, a stick to add to the ever-growing “must try” list!

Nice review – doubt it is for me though. Bit too bold and spicey I think.

Plus there are only about 800billion other Rocky Patel cigars out there to smoke ;)

Mike

A good review, I like RP’s cigar. I will buy afew sticks if I can find The Gran Vida Habano by Rocky patel at a cigar shop in town. Thanks….

Chris, looks like all the snow is gone, have tried our R/P’s, and like them, but sounds a little strong for me on this one,Thanks again, good review.

Awesome review Chris. I love the videos and wish other review sites did the same. It adds something personable for your viewing audience. Thanks again!

ahhhh another Rocky Patel. This guy has more cigar lines than they have people in China. I can’t hate too much, but I don’t know what to try next. He doesn’t give me enough time to like one enough to make it a favorite

Great review. Can’t wait to see who the winner is for the contest this month.

Nice review and the cigar sounds very interesting. I think I’ll try the maduro version first since it has a Pennsylvania wrapper and and the robusto size sounds like the way to go on both the maduro and the habano wrappers. By the way loved the intro song, it has been a while since I’ve heard it. (Blind Melon’s Rain). Keep on smoking.

Sheesh… waiting for today’s vid; I’ll hafta review THIS one just to remind me what the sun looks like. That Gran Habana looks really, really good.

I think I’d like the Maduro version better. I enjoy spice, but more of the sweet kind. Do you guys find most Habanos to be spice-bombs?

I’m suffering video withdrawal; jonesin’ for a review…

Sounds like a cigar I should look for!

Thanks for the review!
