Illusione Epernay Le Elegance

In 2008 Illusione released the limited edition ECCJ to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the European Cigar Cult Journal. This cigar was pretty popular, but like all limited edition cigars they are nearly impossible to find these days. So in 2009 Dion Giolito released the Epernay, which is based upon the ECCJ blend. The Epernay, which is named after the famed grape growing region in France named Champagne, is available in cabinets of 50 and five vitolas.

Overall, construction on this Epernay was flawless, especially when taking a good look at the cuban triple cap. The wrapper was a medium shade of brown with a slightly reddish hue. Pre-light aroma was light tobacco. A quick cut revealed an effortless draw a mesh of cedar and nut flavors.

The Epernay was created to appeal more to the european market, so let’s see how it goes for me.

Name: Epernay
Company: Illusione
Made in: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Cafe Rosado
Filler: Blend of Nicaraguan Criollo and Corojo
Price: $8.00
Comes in: Cabinets of 50
Vitola: Le Elegance (5 3/4″ X 40)

If you watched the entire video I don’t think there is any question that I really enjoyed this cigar. The combination of superior construction and mouth watering flavors make the Epernay Le Elegance worth every penny of it’s $8.00 price tag. A cabinet of 50 might not fit into everyones budget, so a couple five packs are highly recommended. However, a box purchase would not be out of the question if you have the bones to throw down it.

Nice review, I definitely need to grab a five pack of these considering the rave reviews they get from everyone.

Nice review.this is an excellent stick, full of great flavors.

Great review Chris. I’ve never had the chance to try the ECCJ, but I’m quite certain I’ll eventually happen upon this stick somehow. I’m a big fan of the Illusione line (1 and MK personally) and as previously stated, hope to try this line one day. Ty again.

I smoked my first of these about a month ago and absolutely loved it. I’ll definitely be back for more!

These are great stix. Have a few sitting in the humi.

Hey! Where’s the rest of the vid? Cut off at “roasted nut flavor”…

And what band was the pirate tune at the top? Amusing ditty…

Yep: your admiration for the stick def showed thru!

Thanks for the review, Chris. I haven’t yet tried the Epernay, but I have one sitting in my humidor. Your review makes me want to smoke it as soon as possible.

The Epernay is a nice medium flavored stick. Well-made and complex. I don’t care for the flavors as much as the full-flavored Illusione line, and some other mediums out there. I found a licorice taste in the last half, which I don’t care for.

But it is definitely worth trying. A lot of people I know that have tried this, love it.

I’ve smoked the Epernay. The Cigar has similar favors to Padilla, Dominus. I like the cigar alot.

Good job Chris, sounds like the cigar that I would enjoy, I like them mild, will be looking to buy this one.

Nice review. I had 1 or 2 of these so far and I can’t really remember them very well. I will have to grab more! Just sux I have to take an hour drive or so to get them :(

Very nice review. Sounds like it is time for me to try these. The nice thing about the smaller ring gauge cigars is that you can taste the wrapper more than in the bigger ring gauge sticks.

Nice review!! Got my taste buds tingling after that!! But at that price its gonna be a fiver or singles!!

Nice review. And on European Cigar Cult Journal the magazine it’s a really good magazine. I get for their reviews especially the on cubans. They also have reviews on fine alcohol and pipe tobaco. They only of getting now is by subscriping to it. But its a good magazine and different from the other cigar magazines out there.
