“Smoked Up” No.53

Unless if you live in most of Florida, the weather has been pretty cold! Ok, down right cold last week. I live in south Mississippi and the wind chill got down to about 4* here the first part of last week. That’s unusually cold here and I don’t like it that cold. This type of cold weather kept me indoors at night, when I would usually be enjoying a cigar. That being said, I didn’t have too many cigars during the week, but that changed during the weekend. The temps got back up to mid to upper 60s and was real pleasant outside; great smoking weather!

Saturday, I was planning to take down the thousands of Chiristmas lights, but an overnight rain soaked my yard and made for that to be a difficult task. So a trip to the shop was in order. I met up with a bunch of buddies as The Cigar Shop in Biloxi, MS and we watched the Saints’ playoff game. They had steaks, chicken wings, beer, etc.. and it was a pretty good time; except for the outcome of the game. But all the cigars, food, drink and watching the game on a 10foot TV made for a great time.

Tatuaje-Verovu-No.5Tatuaje Verocu No.5: I have not had, nor seen the Verocu No5 in a long time. I luckily came across some when the family and I went out of town last week in Pensacola. I grabbed a few of them for around $5. This is a great short smoke for the cold winter weather and fit right in when the temps leveled off around 40* one evening. This is a prett heavy hitter cigar with a nice full body to it. Had a nice black pepper note with a sweet coffee-like flavor. There were some herbal flavors that I couldn’t pinpoint exactly what they were, but over all a great smoke that I will definitely consider a fiver or so of next fall. But a good smoke regardless of the weather.

CLE-EioraEiora by CLE: I have had a few of Christian Eiora’s cigars and they were all pretty good smokes. A few were so-so, and a few were pretty good; but none have wowed me yet; I have a few more to try. The “Eiora” was a bit stronger bodied than the others I have smoked. It had a nice rounded box press to it and gave off a milkshake thick draw and nice burn. There were flavors of a peppery coffee/espresso, some wood with stronger pepper notes on the retrohale. For around $9+/- it was a nice smoke, one of the better Eioras I have had, but nothing to write home about.

Tatuaje 10th Anniversary TorpedoTatuaje 10th Anniversary Torpedo: I enjoyed my first one of these during the Saints’ playoff game at a local shop. Going with the Flor-de-lis theme for good luck. It didn’t turn out to be a good luck charm as four of us were smoking the same smoke for the game. I wasn’t paying much attention to many of the favors but I remember it being fairly smooth and woody with some black pepper, wood and a slight saltiness to it. Had a great draw, burn and over all construction. I was told by Ben Lee, the toro is a lot better, so I will definitely be trying it next as this was a pretty tasty cigar that I will buy again.

Tatuaje Fausto Avion12Tatuaje Fausto Avion12: The store’s barcode said Avion12, but I was thinking it was the 13 (not paying attention). I had a few of the 12s when they were released and more into 2013. I liked the smaller size than the Avion11 which was a great smoke and a awesome spring time smoke for me. Like the previous cigar, I was smoking it while watching the Saints’ game and didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to the smoke. I did smoke this till the very nub and really enjoyed it. If I would have remembered how good this cigar was, it would have made a spot on my 2013 Cigars of the Year List. I am still looking for the 13 as they have a different wrapper as the previous Avions.
