Tatuaje Seleccion de Cazador Petite Cazadores

This is a review I’ve been looking forward to doing since I smoked my first sample. Without saying “like or dislike” I’ll simply state that my reaction to this cigar was not what I expected.

Name: Tatuaje Seleccion de Cazador
Company: Havana Cellars
Wrapper: Broadleaf Maduro
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Price: $4.50
Comes in: Box of 50
Vitola: Petite Cazadores (4″ x 40)

Pre-Light

The combination of a veiny broadleaf wrapper and an unfinished foot make the Petite Cazadores a rustic looking cigar. The wrapper is a bit dry to the touch with a slightly rough texture. Despite the small stature of this cigar it actually feels heavy in the hand. The combination of weight and firmness of the cigar leads me to believe there is a considerable amount of tobacco rolled up in this tiny package. Pre-light aroma was barnyard, very similar to what I described in the La Traviata Maduro review.

Final Thoughts

Wow! This is an well balanced full-bodied cigar that packs a little punch. First off this cigar is a pepper bomb from beginning to end. Not only did the pepper coat my palate it also filled my nose without retrohaling. Soon after the pepper blast a nice rich espresso flavor took over with hints of sweetness and sometimes chocolate. the Finish was woody and short. From beginning to end, on all samples I’ve had, this cigar has burned evenly and hand an excellent draw.

I can’t say enough good things about this cigar. I don’t try to hide the fact that I’m a huge fan of 95% of the cigars that Pete Johsnon releases, but this Petite Cazadores might be my favorite of all time. I find that surprising considering how much I drooled of the Frank, Noella and Cohete, but this cigar just gets better each time I smoke one. It’s absolutely worth picking up multiple five packs. And if your tastes run in line with mine you’ll likely find this cigar going on your box purchase list. With that said, this stick is probably not for everyone. The combination of strength and pepper might be too much for some folks. However, it’s still worth a try!

As always I’d like to hear your thoughts.
